USA in Africa – Afrigator’s Latest Gem

It is no secret that the USA has a vested interest in Africa and that there is a lot of talk about social responsibility and even more questions as to how they are going to clean up the mess they made by exploiting the African people for minerals. Most of this stuff is just politics and PR (and not the point of this post).

Uncle Sam is getting serious about Africa and is using social media channels to drive initiatives and spread the word … most of us are oblivious to this and even more couldn’t care less about trawling the internet for information related to this topic; but what if you could aggregate this information? Planned visits to African states, speeches, tweets, photos … Yes We Can! (more…)

Afrigator Introduces Gatorpeeps

gatorpeeps

peeps – [peeps]
-noun
1. slang for people (as in my people = my peeps)
2. a short, shrill little cry or sound (typically as made by infant alligators and crocodiles)

… (sort of) the thinking behind Afrigator’s latest gem. Gatorpeeps is a micro-blogging platform, IM client, means of following your peeps on Afrigator, launched today at Barcamp Nigeria in Lagos … follow #bcnigeria on Gatorpeeps … You can add/follow communities by means of #hashtags, message, comment and send direct messages.

Will you need to register? Only if you do not already have an Afrigator account. This means that everyone already on Afrigator is potentially part of your community i.e. one of your peeps.

Kudos to Justin Hartman and Stii (who still does not wish to acknowledge his rockstar ninja guru status) for a job well done (and executed in an extremely short time I am led to believe as well). I am not surprised that Afrigator is turning out to be one of Africa’s most successful start-ups – these guys work extremely hard at it.

Great work guys!!!
